Sounds about right. I'm sitting here today going slowly mad and wanting to just walk out - but as a temp, I don't get paid sick pay (I think the agency would pop if I suggested mental illness).

So we give much support to MIND etc to get this changed, right...?

Good luck to your friend, hun - I recommend TEA. And chocolate. x

MIND and support any mention of every workplace/school/doctors employing counsellors so that everyone has somewhere they can go that is completely theirs to find the support and empathy that is so lacking in the everyday world.
Besides which that would increase my chances of getting employed once I finish training! ;)

At the moment I'm tangled up with stress on top of the depression and my employers are 'letting' me take a month unpaid leave to go home and spend time with my Mum as she's starting to loose the fight with cancer. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to see if I can get at least part of it signed off as stress leave so we aren't completely fubared on bills...

hugs to those who want or need em...

I'm glad you have the time off to spend with your mum, I'm horrified it has to be taken unpaid, I thought workplaces had paid compassionate leave, or am I just seeing the best where there is just consumerism?
I really hope your doctor can help you get as much of it as paid leave as possible.

My thoughts will be with you, hugs

Whilst I generally agree with you it does depend on the company I worked for one where a similar thing happened and the company was basically have loads of trouble staying afloat and since the person wasn't in that much they had to get a temp in and then they could afford the temp and the other persons full pay.
