Do I have to write up an AU background for my character? Can't I just bring them over from canon?
Yeah...nah. The point of the game is that it is an Alternate Universe. If you want to drag a character somewhere crazy as their canon selves, there are plenty of excellent multifandom role plays that cater to that. Check out roleplaysecrets or app_this_plz if you're stuck ( Read more... )

Since the setting for this is Victorian London, would it be necessary to totally rewrite the backstories for characters who actually from that place/time basically?

Remember that this is not just your character thrown into a different time frame, but a different universe altogether. This is not your character's original canon, despite being in the same time frame, so chances are they might have had different experiences growing up.

You may not have to do a total rewrite depending on your character, but you will need to account for those critical changes in their history.

Do you accept challenge apps on reserved characters?

Yes, we do; after all, a reserve is not a guarantee on a character.

Just to make sure that I'm reading the first section of this page correctly: can we assume that any part of the setting that isn't specifically changed from history for the RP will be accurate to 1899 London? I'm specifically wondering about the schooling system at the moment.

Yep! No point reinventing the wheel, after all.

Sorry if I missed this, but are characters required to speak with the local dialect or is that a handwave-able thing?

Do you mean as in accent, or slang etc? I'm not going to make everyone write out, say, a Cockney accent, but try to keep language and things like that as true to the setting as you can.

Quick question- the character I want to apply as is quite young (in canon, she's seen as being about seven or eight). Is that all right, or would I have to age her up/would I be allowed to apply as that character at all?

Thanks.

If you think she fits into this setting at that age, then go right ahead.
