Some of you may be wondering, "Jay Ouderkirk is always so tl;dr these days. What happened to the mp3s?"
That's a good question. Long story short, the service I was using for filehosting purposes - ezarchive.com - is a bitch. At first it was great: cheap, reliable, and looked the other way as I pirated copyrighted material like a vendor at back-alley Moroccan bazaar. Other mp3 blogs swore by it and it seemed as though the good times would never end. But just like everything else, once I get involved with something it then proceeds to go entirely to shit.
Soon enough the site became decidedly less reliable, for no apparent reason, and the admin's solution was to upgrade their service to "EzArchive 3.0", where the quality of any and all mp3s hosted on their site would quickly diminish from 128kpbs or more to something akin to listening to an old 8-track. Worse, they were going to require all users download their own EzArchive player to listen to the tracks. I wasn't down with any of that so I was going to opt out, but then they

Yeah, he seemed unwilling to reciprocate the hug but I was high as a kite and he gave in. This, and shaking William Jefferson Clinton's hand, are my only brushes with fame.
Although that damn Jason McHenry hanging out with Neko in Tuscon, well...thinking about that makes me die just a little bit inside each time.
Hmm...yeah. I feel you, I think. Its like you get to a certain point in your life and there are all these things that you're supposed to posess or supposed to have accomplished. If your life isn't actually in sync with those things then you feel, in some way, less than. Even if you know that society's goals might be arbitrary to you as an individual, it can still fuck with you.
I don't know. Forgive the babbling. You struck a chord. :)
It does fuck with a person big time. It's everywhere, and there's certainly a number of people in our lives that still think that stuff actually matters. But I also think that if we're doing our own things a lot of people can respect that too, or even envy it.
there is this quiz thing circulating on livejournal, something like "How much life have you lived" and I came up with around 60% because I have not bought a home and have not married, nor divorced.
it should have been called "How Much Yuppie Life Have You Lived".
Ah well, you lawyers don't intimidate me. I used to do the dirty work for one of them, way back, and got to know him as more than just someone of his profession. But I can see how guys are all like "Whoa, she's a lawyer, I can't compare with that." Which is a shame because it isn't so much them saying that as it is what they have come to know during their lives saying that. Money talks, that's the thing, and we all know the rest of that old adage..

Don't worry - this lawyer is as lonely for companionship as you are. The law degree seems to make it even worse sometimes.
