I finally break down and buy some candy this year and no one shows up. Thankfully, I got candy I won't eat: gummy halloween faces. Per your suggestion, maybe I'll keep them around to put in tea for when I run out of sugar.
I saw Steampunk costumes on display at the local supermarket.

I think we can say steampunk is done now. I'll say straight up, I never imagined that it would get so big when I was reading some of the original source material in the early nineties -- arguably it blew up bigger than cyberpunk itself, or perhaps it's simply present in less ambiguous forms in the culture. Anyway, now perhaps we can move on to something else. I'd like to see biopunk get its moment, if anyone's listening. Architecture is already playing with biomorphism, and screwing around with the technologies of life is one reasonable path towards getting ourselves out of the present mess and into the next one. Let's make garage gene hacking sexy. The hardware is just about there...
