They drank their drinks in a semi-happy way? I don't drink, so I may be wrong on this, but I'd assume that a few measures of rum, when applied to an empty stomach, would make you more that just "semi-happy".

Depends on how big you are, and whether the rum is accompanied by Coke, and in what proportions it's mixed (if it's mixed), and how big the servings are in any case. My SO got mildly tiddly (and definitely giggly) on a large plastic cup of rum-and-Coke that was more than half rum, but she's small.

I once saw a fic that used the phrase "barely touching the base of her womanhood" to describe a teenage 'Sue....

the 'where' thing annoys the hell out of me, but at least she didn't confuse 'wretch' and 'wench' ...I've seen that done too many times for it to be funny any more.

“Accalia... what a beautiful name.”
(he slurred, hiccuping slightly as he staggered and sloshed his rum on the floor. He then lost all interest in 'accalia' and stared at his cup, from which all the rum had gone.)

and I was wondering, could someone please tell me how one gets their post to appear on the Bastion as a link, not one horrible ghastly thing on the front page?

What about the one that confused "wench" and "wrench"?

The tags are 'lj-cut' and '/lj-cut', each in triangle brackets like HTML.

So, [lj-cut text="This text is on the main page!"] followed by whatever text you don't want on the main page, closed with [/lj-cut]. Replacing the square brackets with triangle ones.

Which I'm certain have a name but I can't remember it at the moment. Meh.

Suddenly men stepped out in front of her and, accidentally mind you, knocked one of them over along with her.

Man, good thing it was an accident. I hate those random groups of people walking around aimlessly who MAKE you crash into one of them and fall over. What assholes.

I'm not getting this Sue's logic. She hates pirates, yet she becames a thief (and a really crappy one at that) which is basically the same thing as a pirate, only without the ship and on land. Good. -_-
