Don't expect the cliche to die, though. Large parts of fandom currently has its head firmly stuck up its collective arse and is singing lalalala (at the same time, mmm), and is churning out plenty of River-in-Egypt fic by the ghastly ton. :D

Somewhere, in a galaxy, not that far away, Lucius is shagging Draco. Or using him for Crucio practice... Or both... at the same time. :P

*lol* You are absolutely right. I adore the Malfoys in book 7 - they are one of its few redeeming features to me. And yet, I used to be one of the abused!Draco crowd, and that won't change. AU-land is a nice place to be, especially when you have unfinished WIP you want to finish and in which you can't just turn around the chracterisation 100%.
