what is "educational linguistics". Labov is retired, no?

educational linguistics is just sociolinguistics applied to education. you don't get a degree specifically in "educational linguistics," it's just how you focus your attention within the field. so, for example, answering questions of how dialect should be approached in the context of education, etc.

i think labov is semi-retired, but he's still listed on the upenn faculty.

he moved in with me, but it is the same apartment. he doesn't have a lot of stuff. it isn't much different except the bathroom is really messy all the time now.
