Did WHAT better? :P A BSD backend ain't quite exactly the same thing.
Dude, though, I'm so effing into the Macbook Pro. All they need is a 13 incher with decent graphics like the x1600xt.
Granted, I have OSX (x86 port) on my laptop already, but I'm still waiting for someone to whip up some drivers for the Centrino wireless before I'll use it regularly.
It was the extra work involved when things break that finally drove me to purchasing and using a Mac. I keep all the benefits and shit just doesn't ever break. It's very nice, and I am very comfortable with it.
After using Linux for so long, I'll never really get used to BSD. If you ever get the chance, try scp-ing something from a Mac to a target with spaces in its path. One of many things that bother me to no end.
I don't mind it being dumbed down for day-to-day things, though. It makes life easier. And if I need to do something that involves intelligence, the tools are always available.

Downside: Limited to Mac applications. :(

Clearly this is a matter of opinion. :)
