I don't blame him for being afraid of flying. I used to travel -everywhere- by plane. But after 9/11 and all of the crazy hoopla you have to go through just to board, I've traveled ONCE by plane. I've vowed it will be the last time because it was such a major pain.

Also, you can't be more careful. It seems the FFA is trying to make flying safer, but it's only inviting more wackos to join is in the friendly skies. I don't understand that...

Have you ever considered driving through northwest Arkansas to Eureka Springs and then circle up to Branson, Missouri? I'm not sure how things are in the winter, but we enjoyed a simple June honeymoon in Eureka Springs in 1962 and it's still a nice place. We're planning a week in Branson in March during school break. Our daughter and her family are going to share a time-share with us.
We'll be in northwest Arkansas (Springdale) Friday. That's beautiful country in spring and summer.

What did you think of Houston when you drove through on your way to Galveston? Could you stay there a week?

And did you say you already visited Vegas? Wayne Newton, et. al.?

You know what I'd do if were in your shoes? Spend the week looking for a vacation spot. I mean one you could invest in. Don't know how you feel about country or lakeside living, but there oughta be some place where you just get all gooey inside thinking about it.

where the fish bite, nonetheless. Your own second home.

((hugs))

First of all, tell Tom I've been in THREE (3) airplane "crashes" - two on take-offs and one on landing - one was even into a river. I obviously survived all of them, and NO, I was not the pilot. Tell him not to be afraid - you have a higher chance of dying driving in Canada.

Secondly, If you want to come to Ft. lauderdale, I can get you a great hotel rate here at the hotel attached to the community I manage: Grand Palms

Its just a glorified Holiday Inn, but you can get to everywhere in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami from here. You could even do a cruise!

So come on, fly. Have your doctor proscribe valium and then add a scotch or two. I'll even babysit Erin for you if you bring her along.

train trip -- you can get a sleeper car, get to some place fun, then do more fun stuff, then train-trip back. you could do new orleans which, imo, is one of the most wonderful places in this country.

this is what you get living in hillbilly land -- no cruises, no ocean, no non-hillybillies. :P
