Bengaluru! WTF?

Dec 12, 2005 13:24

I so very disapprove of Bangalore being renamed as "Bengaluru"!
And bull crap the 'u' vowel distinguishes our language as per the great Jnanpith Award winner, Mr.You-Are-A-Jobless-Freaku-Ananthmurthy!
The man also adds "By adding the ‘u,’ even words like chair-u and table-u become KannadaWTF? what was he even thinking when he made such a ( Read more... )

:-D Did he actually say that?

I'd be laughing heartily, if the whole thing wasn't so tragic! What the hell are these people thinking?

I know. I can't believe it either.

What happens when a word already ends with a ooo sound?
Big B: Which of the following sounds does a cow make?
(a) bow-wow (b) meow (c) moo (d) moouuu
KBC asprirant: Sir, is it a kannada hasu-u? Or a normal cow-u?

seriously... what a waste of bloody time to think about changing names of cities... where they should rather become international... they actually think about how to make life even tougher for foreigners to pronounce indian names. **ck the names anyways... they could rather utilise all those brains and energy they put into crappy things like these into more productive things like better roads and less traffic jams!! i'm damn pissed .

looks like we've come a full circle-u...in a few years-u the city is going to be named-u "Bendakaalooru" and then again y not "Bangalooru" or "Bangaluru" or "Bengalore" or "Bendalore" or "Bendavoor" or just why not "Bend Over" eh!??

should've named it "wtf-u"...

Wats wrong in naming a city in the way it should be called and not in the way other people call it. To Germans Munich is Munchen. Same thing here.

well...not at a time when the city is being globally recognised as "Bangalore"! and definitely cannot afford this at a time when there are other very very important things like infrastructure to be taken care for! and surely not for the afore mentioned lame reason!

and yeah, for the Germans Munich maybe Munchen. so, is the same for us...its still Bengalooru for all us kannadigas...but dont change the name offcially here!
dont you realise the amount of effort/cost/unnecessary changes its gonna take for absolutely no reason at all?

Bah!. This is a very bad argument. People dont come here coz its called blore. They come here for the value they get. The day they dont get value Blore or Bluru doesnt matter.

"definitely cannot afford this at a time when there are other very very important things like infrastructure to be taken care for!"
Wat has renaming got to do with improving infrastructure. These are 2 diff things.

Munich is officially Munchen. U may continue to call Bluru to Blore, but officially it shud be bluru.

"dont you realise the amount of effort/cost/unnecessary changes its gonna take for absolutely no reason at all"
This isnt goin to be a big cost as many predict.

dude! if the first one is bad argument what is a good one then?! The city has been recognised for its value alright, but, its also recognised as "Bangalore"! are we on the same page here? Changing the name is sure not a good idea especially for a city like Bangalore and it isnt as easy as you see it. i'm cent percent sure of teh chaos/confusion its gonna create once changed.

and coming to the second argument... i meant i'd anyday prefer the govt spending the same effort/cost in infrastructure to sitting and wasting their their time and money over rechristening the city.

and who has predicted that its not gonna be a big cost?

for what joy are they doing this? just coz one Ananthmurthy suggested that? did they take an opinion poll from the Bangaloreans? isnt their opinion equally important?
