version question

I am 37 weeks along with baby #2 and at our ultrasound today we found that she is still in transverse position. My OB mentioned the possibility of attempting a version next week. Has anyone had experience with versions? This has been a relatively normal pregnancy, my amniotic fluid level is good, and the baby is smallish (25th percentile). The only ( Read more... )

My baby was breech for the entire last third of my pregnancy. I tried E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. it was like an effing full time job trying to turn my damn baby and nothing worked. Very frustrating. My experience with version was fairly neutral, I wanted to be sure I'd tried everything so I went for it. It was not pleasant but not painful. It was over fast, I guess the Dr decided quickly that it wasn't going to work and gave up. I think with versions, earlier is better. I kind of blame my midwives for dragging their heels on transferring my care, they tried hard to convince me to just have a breech vaginal birth even though I was having none of that. I do wonder if I had had the version earlier than 39 weeks if it might have worked.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am scheduled for a version in 2 days, so it's reassuring to hear it wasn't too painful (even though it didn't work). I am trying a few silly things from the internet, but mostly I suspect she'll turn if she's good and ready. :)

I highly suggest acupuncture and moxibustion. Not because they work but because after a long, sober 9 months there was something admittedly trippy about acupuncture. That's some good shit. And moxibustion was funny because the nasty weird smoke filling up the acupuncture clinic really pissed people off and it was so amusingly out of place in our current 'no smoking allowed anywhere ever' culture.

(ps totally joking obviously, probably don't try these things for those reasons...)

I'm glad it worked out somehow! Doesn't matter why, just that it did! :-)

Thanks! Actually, she kept on turning and was back to transverse at my next appointment. By the time I went into labor she had turned again... to breech! We wound up with a c-section, but both baby and I are healthy and doing great so that's really all we can ask for. :)
