I'm honestly not sure if I need advice or just a space to vent but...

Almost five years ago I was pregnant with my first child, who as it turns out was a boy. My mother was disappointed. Seriously, seriously disappointed. I also noticed when I gleefully told people I was having a little boy, a few people were like "Oh." One coworker even had the nerve to say better luck next time (I wanted to deck them ( Read more... )

I get that too. I just tell them matter-of-factly I would never risk a third c-section: we're done. (I mostly keep to myself that I would love to have a girl, but meh, them's the breaks. Also, my boys are awesome.)

That is really weird. I'd be offended too!! We have two girls and every time I hear, "Better start trying for that boy!" I reply with something defensive and snarky that I probably shouldn't. Ugh. Sorry and sympathizing.

I've been very tempted to get snarky. I've only known its a girl for a short period of time and it is already getting to the point that it really bugs me.

You have weird people around you. :/ your son is amazing and so will your daughter! I really want both but if i end up with only girls it will be hilarious and i will love every second. Same if i had only boys

I do. Especially my mother since she's always been good for projecting her own desires onto me. When I was pregnant with my son, she kept insisting what I really wanted was a girl (when I said I didn't care) then when we found out it was a boy, she actually asked me if I was okay with that.

I had 3 girls and then a boy. EVERYONE, even total strangers, says "You finally got your boy!" Um...except I never wanted one more than the other and, if ANYTHING, was slightly more okay with a girl because I already know how to do those. :P My point: people are annoying. :/

It seems like you have really irritating, moronic people around you who apparently themselves wanted a girl. o_O Heck, in many cultures it's considered lucky to have a boy first! Anyway, if the mother says she's thrilled, why the eff would anyone react that way?!

Try to ignore the irritating masses... the only important thing is that the child is healthy! And I hope she'll be a real badass bug and woods crawler.
