Writer's Block: Ewww
What is one food that you refuse to try? Why?
Raw oysters. I couldn't possibly stomach them and can't imagine why anyone would want to eat something that slimy. Are they really an aphrodisiac? Heaven only knows. "School girls we eighteen and under..." the women's chorus sings as we shuffle in our 'artless Japanese fashion' across the raked stage. It is very humbling to think that more than thirty years have passed since I saw my eighteenth birthday. Singing with mama
I'm doing a lot of singing lately -- between rehearsals for The Mikado and voice lessons with Sandy, but the most gratifying singing I do is for my mother. And today it was with my mother!

Stone Lake Weekend
B and I attended the Stone Lake Cranberry Festival this weekend with 16 friends from the Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company. The weather was the most extraordinary feature of the event - it was warm and breezy (an actual high of 80 degrees). Idyllic Indian summer. The other remarkable thing was the number of people there. Mom's 82nd Birthday
My mama is 82 today! We celebrated with a family party at her assisted living place. I brought in food from Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Changs, including some fun new dishes from Cheesecake Factory: Boom Boom Chicken and Shrimp, and Crispy Spicy Beef as well as my tried-and-true favorite, BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad. Football mom no more
Jack quit football. I should be relieved. Now he is likely to survive his teenage years in one piece. Those huge bruises that look like dirt on his arms will heal.
