Dinah had no idea how long she'd been staring into her coffee cup, but it was long enough for the contents to go cold, and she nearly spit it out when she took a sip. Cold coffee was just so gross. Dick had left her sitting at the kitchen table trying to work through everything he'd told her, but it wasn't getting any more clear, no matter how ( Read more... )

Bart was actually planning to work on some of the new addition Tim and Dick had drawn up to connect the two treehouses, but he was just too sore after training that morning. And Bob was complaining because somehow they were out of dates this morning. He'd come across to Exile's to see if they had any, the furry bat hanging onto him like a lopsided leather jacket, and blinked when he saw an unfamiliar blonde. Then blinked some more.

"Dinah?"

Her head snapped up when she heard her name, and she was confronted by the sight of a strange man. Wearing a gigantic bat. She sighed and reminded herself that Nightwing had done his best to prepare her for this.

"Yes, I'm Dinah," she replied, pushing her hair back over her shoulder and turning to face the guy with the flying mammal. "But I don't know you. So, you should probably start by introducing yourself."

"I'm Bart, Bart Allen. Uh, former Flash," he said, petting the animal absently as he hooted his own hello. "This is Bob. I was actually looking to see if there were some more dates. The bottomless pit must have eaten them all last night. Robin's fault, really. He was the one who started using them as rewards."

Raising an eyebrow, she leaned back in her chair to take a better look at him. Former Flash? She wasn't sure she wanted to know what that meant for Wally, not if she was eventually going to find a way home. And she was going to find a way home.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Bart. I'm sorry I have nothing to offer your friend there, but I seem to have dropped in a bit unexpectedly."

New arrival. That's what he knew, so of course the first thing he thought to do after being dragged around by Tim was to go visit her. Like Lois, if he could make her arrival a little better than his own he'd do everything he could. With that in mind, he made his way over to the other Tower and made his way upstairs.

"Hello? Anyone home?"

"Yeah, in the kitchen." She wasn't sure who to expect, but Dick had done a pretty good job of briefing her, so she figured she was good to go. No matter how exhausted she was. Still, when she got a look at the new arrival she had a very strong suspicion that she'd met him before. She couldn't exactly place him, but he looked really familiar. Weird. "Do we know each other?"

"Kon," he said, ducking his head in and grinning at her. "Or Superboy or Conner Kent to most of the island. I don't think we ever actually met met. Not in the 'hello, how are you' kind of way. More like the 'hey, come help me kick some alien ass' kind." He held out his hand. "So it's good to do it properly this time."

"Right. But I'm pretty sure that was a me from the future or some alternate dimension or whatever the hell it is that explains this island weirdness." Dinah was positive she would have remembered meeting Superman's clone before. "That does explain why you looked so familiar," she added with a smile. "Though I had no idea Clark was so handsome when he was younger."

Jill rubbed a hand over her face, pausing before she knocked on the door of the Exile's treehouse politely before she opened the door. It was just perfunctory, and there was small (mostly because it was forced) smile on her face.

"Hullo," she said, nodding once. "I'm Jill." She knew that the woman had just shown up (another one, of all things), and it was the least Jill could do to be civil.

"Hi, Jill. I'm Dinah. Pleasure to meet you." Even completely worn out, Dinah had no problem taking in all the details about this girl. Particularly the discomfort that was practically coming off of her in waves. She couldn't imagine why this Jill person would be so wary of her, unless they had some kind of past together that Dinah wasn't aware of. But Dick hadn't said anything about her having enemies here. So, what the hell? "Sorry, but have we met before?"

"You and I? Oh, goodness, no. I'm- I'm not from... I'm from Narnia." She inhaled. "Jill Pole, you see." She didn't know if the other woman would have read them, but either way it was still an explanation.

"I met Robin when I came here."

"Narnia? Like from the books? Wow, that's...that's pretty wild." Dick had told her about Jill and how there were tons of fictional people on the island, but it was still pretty weird to meet one face-to-face. Leaning back comforably in her chair, Dinah tried to get passed the bizarro factor and work out why Jill was to tense. Figuring it was probably best to just address it head on, she said "If I promise not to bite, will you promise to try and relax a bit?" Dinah gave the girl a sly half-smile. "I'm actually very nice. Most of the time."

Monet walked past the woman with a bundle or torn sheets in her hand, muttering a string of curses in French as she wandered off dispose of the evidence of her nightmares. Pausing, Monet turned and looked at the woman with her eyebrow raised. Hmm. So nice of Dick to let her know they were having visitors.

"Who are you?" Monet asked, before swearing even louder about men.

Charming. Dinah supposed 'bitchy woman speaking french' meant that she could be only one person. Wasn't this just going to be a pleasure. She silently cursed Dick one more time for leaving her here alone when all she wanted to do was curl up and get some rest.

"Dinah Lance." She responded finally, voice barely concealing the sarcasm. "Such a pleasure you to meet you, Monet."

"I could say the same but I have no idea who you are Dinah Lance." Monet replied rolling her eyes at the woman. "And it's M."

She's not team and she's not her friend. She has no idea who the hell she is and Dick is going to get his ass kicked for letting a complete stranger into the treehouse. She knew she should have stayed at the compound. At least they had running water there.

"Ah," Dinah replies with a grin. "My mistake, M. And I'm Black Canary, if that helps at all. I just sort of...dropped in last night. Dick was kind enough to bring me back here to get comfortable."

She wasn't sure why she antagonizing the other woman, other than the fact that it was fun and she was still kind of spoiling for a fight. Leaning back in her chair, she adds, "We're old friends."
