Buffy: Season One review

I just completed Season One of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have to say at most it was decent, maybe up there with The Ghost Whisperer or Wearhouse Thirteen. I know it wasn't one of the "Big Four" networks (i.e. CBS, NBC, Fox, ABC) and for a UPN/WB Network show it's production is decent, though some of the CGI was just awful, but I suppose a lot of ( Read more... )

Like!
Yeah, it does start off pretty corny, but it's still entertaining...
I love the hyena episode because I think cannibalism is hilarious.
The praying mantis is weird though...
but this kind of show is exactly what I used to come hope to watch when I was 10 so it kind of brings back memories of hotdogs and beans with my dad on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and that is why I love the first few seasons so. Good association :)

Well, most shows are pretty corny in their first season. Like I mentioned, the show is coming to life and the writers and actors are still getting comfortable with their roles. It usually takes most shows at LEAST two or three seasons to really hit its stride ( ... )

I have been a fan of this show since the late days of it's airing (for about 6 years) and I found that it was always something new every episode. The characters develop and grow and aren't who they were at the beginning of the show by the end of it. Thank goodness the first season of this series is only 13 episodes long at least you don't have to suffer 22 episodes of horriblness. It does get way better part way during seasons 2 and 3.
(This series started on FOX and ended up at WB mid-way through it's 5th season because FOX, being the conservative pricks they are wouldn't allow a lesbian kiss on screen.)

Heh, yeah, thank goodness for mid-season replacements! Thirteen was juuuuust the right ammount. I think if I had to suffer a full season's worth of it I'd be clawing my eyes out! ^_^

I remember when the show swapped charnels it was on "The New" WB channel, they made a big deal abouts it.

I just placed a hold on Season 2 at the Quincy library, so hopefully it should be available in a few days!!!
