Gossip was he didn't want to do such a dark character and wanted to do funny stuff instead. I think that he's a hockey player who was sidelined through injury more than an actor who likes to play hockey. I also think, like a lot of the fans, he loved the character as it originally was and probably didn't like seeing him become a 2D cartoon villian. That last bit is conjecture on my part.
a hockey player who was sidelined through injury more than an actor who likes to play hockey Gosh, thank you for that insight, which makes me feel more generous in my assessment the man.
Gossip was he didn't want to do such a dark character and wanted to do funny stuff instead. I can't see it - he played someone who pushed his Father out a high-rise window in addition to trying to kill his future Bottom. But, thanks for bringing me up to speed with the latest... :D
It *is* Smallville. "Subtle" isn't usually their thing. =P
Part of why I couldn't stand Reunion was that the kid playing Lex looks nothing like MR and even had brown eyes. Ridiculous. I refuse to believe casting is *that* difficult.
"Subtle" isn't usually their thing. =P Ah, but isn't it a lovely run of 12-18 seconds or so, when they manage to wring-out a good bit of acting /snorfle.
Other than keeping a lookout for any hint of Clark Jr., I live for the nice bits of acting goodness. The reason I hated Blue so much was, the whole thing was so horrible that it obliterated any remembrance of any good acting there might have been, due to nausea-overload and subsequent knee-jerk brain-bleaching.

I bet he could be Lex's Stand-In. I'm sure he's on contract and an easy replacement to use (a known quantity). But, my goodness, haven't they head of blue contacts......??!
