Birthdays... aren't that important where I come from; or rather, they're private family affairs if celebrated.

Ours are too, usually. I was supposed to have a grand ball for my eighteenth birthday, but that's a special occasion all in itself, so it's not so odd to celebrate that way, I think.

Mmhmm, eighteen is a special age. Particularly for princesses, since that's usually when their mothers start looking into marrying them off. But yes, it's also the coming of age for both girls and boys.

Hmm... marriage. Right. Of course, one would have to be of age, then... nowadays, at home, it's at a similar age range - somewhere between eighteen and twenty - but it can also happen as early as thirteen.
