Times They Are A Changin
Bob Dylan

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Congrats to the new President (Elect) and a big hurrah for the future of our country. May this be a sign of the changing times. I'm truly proud of our country today, because we've made history. I am proud that I will be able to site this as one of the historical moments I got to witness (something besides 9/11 and the Iraq war/Vietnam part deux, and the stupidity of a country re-electing a man that had no business running a country. Seriously? He ran Fortune 500 companies into the ground so we give him a country? A country which is basically like a big business/company?).

In my short 23 years I've witnessed four presidents, with Obama becoming my fifth (Regan, Bush 1, Clinton-twice, Bush 2-twice). I've witnessed the OJ Simpson trial (which I still don't understand why this was something we had to watch for hours on end), the almost impeachment of a president (for reasons I find ridiculous), the rise of 'reality' tv (which I hate and find no 'reality' in), the voting scandal in Florida that lead to the election of an idiot (I thought so from the very beginning, I was only a Sophomore in high school), the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 (Where was I? getting ready for school when the first one hit and drinking my morning coffee when the second hit), the declaration of war or non-declaration or whatever it was that lead us to sending troups to Iraq (Where was I? Pizza Hut, eating salad with my BFF-at the time-and shocked that this happened in the last semester of my senior year of high school), the re-election of the idiot (this time with a voting scandal in Ohio... WHY didn't anyone press the fact that there was a voting scandal during both of Dubya's elections? I'm sure someone else found it fishy), the capture and execution of Suddam Hussein (which I'd like to ask, weren't we originally looking for Osama? Whatever happened to him?), the destabilization of the US economy (and the world's), and now the first African-American President (the first time a minority has been elected President, as Native American I am truly proud).

So now that I've finished gushing. GO AMERICA!!! (Just thought I'd through that out there)
