We all know what's going on in New Orleans. It's a terrible tragedy. STOP BITCHING ABOUT IT. Fema fucked up. Maybe you hate Bush, maybe you hate Michael Brown, maybe you're already on your way to Canada to hop the border and you're reading this in the car on your wireless connection. It doesn't matter. I have donated what money I can to the Red Cross. Funds are tight for me because Gas shot up 70 cents in a week -dies-, but Im still giving what I can.

I know that everyone else would do it for Florida if we needed the help.

The info was very helpful Jade and answered the lingering questions I had about the Red Cross.

So, I had some ignorant SOB in BB the other day. Now, we're collecting money from customers and matching it on a corporate level to donate. Go us, right? Well, it's at least something.

Anyway, I ask this guy if he'd like to donate a dollar or more and he says, "No! I won't donate to those people, they're shooting at the people trying to help them and raping women and stuff like that. They don't deserve our help."

And I just looked at him, too stunned to speak. WTF? What about donate money to help the women who are getting raped? Or the idea that maybe people wouldn't shoot at people trying to help them if they weren't so confused and angry and frustrated and desperate. I mean, I really think this guy was the kind of guy who would go all vigilante in a crisis as well! Why doesn't this shit occur to people?

Yeah, I really enjoy how people throw a fit over FEMA's lack of response killing thousands of people, and then they turn around and say "those assholes who won't leave deserve to die."

DESERVE TO DIE? They might not be intelligent but they committed no crime, no atrocity. Don't wave your righteous bullshit about FEMA in my face if you're stupid enough to sit here and select who you think we should rescue, asshole.

This guy didn't say anything about FEMA-our donations are specifically going to the Red Cross. We got a note saying we had to specify "American" Red Cross since there are lots of Red Crosses. Because, you know, we're actually giving the money to the Ethiopian Red Cross to help all the starving people there, but people only want to donate if it's helping humans who contribute to our nation's GNP. Or something ( ... )

It seems to me that kids seem to care more than adults. At the telethon, an 8 year old boy raised over $300 at his lemonade stand and donated it all to the ARC and another gave up his birthday party and asked that instead of presents, his friends give him donations to give to the Red Cross.

Kids are way more aware than we give them credit for I think. Plus they dont have the hesitancies we do when we get older. To them everyone is equal, its the adults that make them see otherwise. Its really good to see the kids getting involved with the relief effort. It makes them feel bigger I guess. ^_^
