i flat-ironed my hair this morning. it looks pretty hot, and it's really easy to do. i recommend flat ironing to everyone! my mom used to always encourage me to keep my hair long because you only get to do that when you're young. when you're older, you have to keep it short, otherwise you look like a crazy woman with wild hair. it just struck ( Read more... )

the rule that older asian women must cut their hair short really depresses me, because i look horrible with short hair. it's not fair. WHY? but it does look kind of weird. my mom used to have a friend who kept her long straight hair even after she had 3 kids.. she had the heavy bangs and it was in the 80s so she wore this blue eyeshadow.. all of it combined made her look like cher. the only other asian women who comes to mind now is Yoko naked with John on the cover of Rolling Stone. NOT ENCOURAGING!

I've heard excellent things about "History of Love" - you'll have to blog your opinion. Is that Jonathan Safran Foer's wife? b/c she's supposed to have written an excellent book too if that's not her. i wish i had time to read. :(

i think when we get to that age, we'll all look good with short hair. know what i mean?

i'll let you know how the history of love turns out. it's really good so far. it's definitely an intelligent read that reads very quickly. not a combination you usually find in literary fiction. i could probably have finished it in just a few sittings, but i'm trying to pace myself because it's so good so far that i don't want it to end too quickly. and actually, nicole krauss, who is the author, is also the wife of foer. so we're talking about the same book. :) i read the first couple pages of foer's book, everything is illuminated, but haven't put my head into reading it. maybe it'll be next!
