I'm both lonely and not in the mood to see anyone. Is that weird? Probably.

While waiting for the train to SF this morning, a woman with a bike struck up a conversation with me.  This was just totally out of the blue.  About an hour later I was reading at a cafe and an older gentleman engaged me in a conversation about black French writers.

Is it a full moon or something?  This never happens.

This has been a crazy month and a number of things have changed in recent days. Originally I had planned to be in the Pacific Northwest for one week from August 24-28 (more or less). Now that has changed and I will instead be in Washington around the first week of September (the 3rd at the latest) until around the 20th.

This has been a month of deep introspective contemplation, but one one issue has been on my mind. At least, one issue that I feel comfortable sharing. People are always shocked when I tell them i don't have a television. Why is this? Why are we so dependent upon our televisions?
