My Paid Account for LJ expires very soon and I'm pondering whether to keep it on or not. On the one hand, I loved LJ and being able to see everyones thoughts, musings, rants, icons and vids. Yay for enjoying work more, and persevering through the awful stuff! You deserve a good, relaxing holiday, where you can actually look forward to going back to work, too, when it's time.

As for Facebook, I see it as entirely separate from LJ. My fannish life is centered around LJ and DW; my work/family life is on Facebook--and the two don't really intersect at all. You have to use real names on FB, so I don't see that ever changing. Therefore, it really depends on where your interests lie these days.

I use FB, but I tend to keep it for RL friends and family. I can't really be myself on FB, can't really talk about fandom stuff because most of my family and some of my friends don't know that side of me. Plus my boss's boss is my friend on FB and there are some things I don't want getting back to work!

LJ is my haven for being me, for posting fic, squeeing in new fandoms, and generally chatting to my online friends.

Also Twitter - I keep this for celebrity stalking ;-)

I don't post as much as I used to but do use FB quite differently, mainly using it to keep up with what the kids and family and godchildren are doing. Like others, my fannish life is all on LJ and that will stay that way. So I recently renewed my Paid Account because that felt right for me.
And I don't think you would have been able to vent on FB as you can on here. But maybe you could do what you want to with a free account? I would be sad to see you go!
Delighted to hear that you are enjoying the job. It would cheer me up a lot to find you sorting out my care to enable me to get home from hospital. And I am so pleased that you are working with such nice people.

I do no fannish stuff on FB. I use that for RL. LJ is my fun place for lads and boys and drooling and vidding and fic and pics. I'd miss you! But you can do whatever you feel works best for you, of course.
