Question!

Would it be a bad idea for me to make an obnoxiously large sign and bring it to the Roe vs. Wade rally that says the following:

"It doesn't take
Christianity
or
Heterosexuality
to be Pro-Life"I don't want to necessarily make my going to the rally all about me, but I think that it could start some good conversations about how the movement can make ( Read more... )

As a christian, I'd be delighted - it frustrates me that people assume that if you are pro-life you must be christian - or that the only reason I am pro-life is because I'm christian!

It's the attitude that if I hold an opinion (like pro-life) that agrees with my church, I obviously haven't thought about it but have just swallowed doctrine unthinkingly. It's a way of dismissing my views, which makes me really quite angry at times!

it's not offencive it's actually really good for the movement because it shows it's not just doctrine making people pro-life the fact that we're uncomfortable with killing the unborn which is a diffrent statment entirely. It's a good counter to the pro-choice sign "May the fetus you save be gay" sign. I guess "Save the Gay Atheist Fetuses!" sign would be cute as well.

That would be great - it was only very recently that I became aware that people assumed that pro-life = anti-gay!

I'm not religious so I understand the sentiment.
I don't find it offensive at all.

It's really not offensive, yet it makes for good shock value because it's not the kind of sign people are used to seeing at pro-life events, so I think it would be very effective to use.

I'd lean toward:

GAY
ATHEIST (<--or whatever)
PRO-LIFE

Nice, simple, and straightforward.
