Yesterday was something of a marathon run. We crossed the rest of Minnesota, resisting the allure of the Hormel Museum of Spam (yes, really). We stopped somewhere for a deep dish pizza for lunch (we finished later for dinner), and off we went again.

There was a lot of beautiful farmland, and one stretch with dozens of wind turbines.

It was a long day of driving through farmlands playing what's-growing-in-that-field and count-the-calves.  Lots of road construction.  It seems that South Dakota is renovating overpasses this summer, so it was detour off the freeway, get back on the freeway.  We got tired of the voice on the TomTom, which was the computer generated voice called " ( Read more... )

Calling Laura Ingalls Wilder! We wound up at a campground that is pretty close to the geographic center of South Dakota. It’s situated on a little lake in the middle of prairie, with almost no trees. There are birds galore, however, making quite a concert. And the night sky was gorgeous. Mr Ambition’s goal was to get all the way across South Dakota ( Read more... )
