An Omnivore's Take on Animal Rights and Vegetarianism Editorials

First of all, I'd like to note that I know that the Animal Rights platform is different than the Vegetarianism platform. While there is a correlation between the two, they aren't the same and should be addressed as such.

This is a response to the editorials (http://media.www.mclabeacon.com/media/storage/paper802/news/2007/02/08/Opinion/Editorial-Read more... )

hay! I am so happy you took the time to read that stuff and be all opinionated an' shit. Furthermore, I'm glad you've done what the Editorialist SHOULD have done and just admitted that his reasons for eating meat are simply based on aesthetics and personal/individual economy. Not that I always find it a sound reason, at least it's honesty. Not to mention that he (i know who it is, so it's a 'he') just threw stones at others with not impetus. Just for the purpose of attacking other's opinions and values without doing research into the 'why' of it all. I, as a vegetarian, must go into the "why" of meat-eating so that I may make a conciencious decision to not eat it. I must know the "why" to act in the "why (one should) not" way ( ... )

I would be too embarassed to present such a half-assed editorial for people to review. I would at least have presented the oppsing view and explained why I disagree and try to provide facts.

I don't have any problem with vegetarianism or animal rights activism save for those very few crazy people.

I'm glad you appreciate my honesty. I do honesty wish it were easy to give up meat, but I have a hard enough time not doing a lot of things that aren't great for me.....one thing at a time, for my will power is SO strong even I can't control it.

Florida is fine. I start the Correctional Officer training academy in April and I should be state certified by the beginning of July. Other than that (and trying to not get killed at work) not much is going on.
