nice photos. i'm really fascinated by ancient egypt and would love to visit. wilbur smith wrote a really good series of novels about ancient egypt (if memory serves me correct the main character was named Taita) and i love those documentaties about how the pyramids were built. apparently they were plastered so each side was completely smooth (obviously the plaster has now eroded, although you get an idea on the upside down photo). when the sun shone on them from certain angles they shone brilliantly.
The top part of Chephren is where they were tipped with gold, perhaps a rumor... Residue of the white limestone that coated them once is on the bottom of the stones, it truly looks stunning. One of my fascinations with the pyramids is how they must have looked like. I assume it was quite like Las Vegas, so I don't start building a time machine.
