It was starting to get light when I walked to Obertraun Dachstein Station. The train-ride to Bad Ischll took half an hour and gave stunning views of the lake, before a 90 minute bus-ride to Salzburg. There are regular buses from Ljubljana Bus Station to Lake Bled. I took the 8.30am bus and the journey lasted just over an hour. It was a treat, with some lovely scenery as we approached the snow-capped Slovenian Alps ( Read more... )

I woke at 8.30am and the first thing I did was check the weather for today. It had improved, with just light rain predicted until about 11am. I looked out of the window and it looked uninviting. I got to the main road in good time to catch the 8.30am bus. Almost immediately a white dalmatinac pulled up with a ‘Split’ sign in the window. The owner of my guesthouse told me these vans are quicker than buses so I hopped on and paid €4. To start the day I walked down to the main road that runs along the coast to recce where the bus-stop is that I’ll need to take the bus from to Split tomorrow morning.
