Reflections on this year at Scarborough

When I found out that I was to be this year's Fight Director I was filled with excitement but was also very nervous. This was my first experience being in charge of something so big. I focused myself and gave the task my all, and it paid off in spades ( Read more... )

Bill, let me just say again, I really really liked the show. Even in the muck and mud, and with the restrictions for safety, it was a seriously kick-ass show. You did a great job, and you enabled your fighters to do a great job too. That is a very important aspect of your position - providing a medium for your fighters to show their stuff. It was obvious that the fighters were invested in the show.

Wow and congrats!

Thank you very much...

It was nice to watch you in the yard fighting, You are a very skilled fighter and that makes your observations mean that much more.

Take care and hopefully we will see you at your festival, we will definately try to make it up this year.

I'm proud of you for all your hard work, sweetheart. No one can please all people, all the time, but you never stopped looking for the best in your fighters and in the show, and that's a kind of strength I admire. You rock :)

Thank you,

I know you have it in you to be a good fighter, we have obsticles to get past but we will do it together.

I enjoy watching you fight, you have a verry smooth style.

Keep up the good work, Oh and if you guys get a chance keep working the fight you have together... fights like that can be used in promos or in future things next year. Having more fights to pull from is never a bad idea.

Hugs,

You did a great job this year! It was wonderful to see a lot of fighters return to the board, as well as new ones step up. Thank you for a fresh approach to fighting and the Chess Match. It's VERY much appreciated to have a fight director who is concerned about keeping his fighters not only safe but happy. It's vital to the success of the show to have a good relationship between fighters and their director, and all the comments I heard were absolutely positive on that. So thank you. You went into it with high hopes and a few nerves, and you did spectacularly. I look forward to seeing what you've got in store for the future.

Thank you for seeing the back stage aspect of what I was doing as well as the foregroud.

I feel that it is very important that the relationship between the fighters and the directors be very close so that everyone knows what is going on. I had some learning curves that I did not expect to have to deal with but once I figured them out I learned from them and move on.

I do have the fighters best interest at heart and I want everyone to be the best they can be, we did very well at communication this year and I hope that we can make next year even better. I had some gaps in commmunication from my side that I already have worked on fixing and I have a plan to keep that from happening again next year.

Thanks again,

It looked great from the spectator's viewpoint! I really liked the way everyone did their dialogue, and didn't drop character. Sorry we couldn't watch the second chess match, but I'm told it was just as good.

Thank you very much.

One of the things I focused on was that the characters were not dropped at the edge of the board like years past. Each of the fighters were encouraged to script the fight with the character in mind.

The dialog was all the part of the fighters, they were not scripted. They did a great job.
