*would make a slice/pie metaphor here, but is too lazy*

Thank you very much indeed!

This is happy-making and sad at the same time.

I love peacocks, (so prettyyy) but I also love the idea that something so unexpected could be a trigger for them like this; it seems very believable.

I'm so glad you think the peacocks are believable; I feel like it's not something anybody mentions, but the first time I heard peacocks I was absolutely staggered at how much they sounded like children in agony (and for various reasons, I was bothered by it myself). And then I watched Dead in the Water the other day, and I imagined Dean might have a bit of a thing about crying children, especially around that time (before all the old-man Bitterness).

So this happened. With all its peacocky, ice creamy madness. I'm glad you approve.

Oh man, I love this. You got the shuffle of feet, the babble of voices, the please-let-me-kill-it of the peacock cries, the dust in the sunlight, and even the smell of the bird house. And you got SamandDean. Lovely little piece of work.

Thanks! There was so much I was trying to cram into this (sun and crowds and HOT, plus no account of zoo visits is complete without a mention of the unutterable stench of bird houses)...I'm glad it all came through.

this is so cute... and so sad, can't they EVER get a break?

(I saw this and was like, peacocks present possibilities for h/c?? I had no idea they sound like children crying. And OF COURSE Dean would be triggered by it. :'(

And I love the imagery in the last line. :D

I wish I could find a proper peacock sound clip to demonstrate, but all of the peacocks on the internet just sound like screaming birds. So maybe this crying-children thing is just me....*shrugs* They always sound *exactly* like young children in pain to me. So I went with it. Because I'm sadistic that way, and cute and sad must always go hand-in-hand for me.

Thanks for all the lovely words - especially about the last line, because I struggled long and hard to find an ending for this one.
