Verity Lambert

I was just about to make my annual Happy Birthday Doctor Who post when I read that Verity Lambert has died. I was always rather proud of the fact that my favourite television programme was originally produced by a young woman in the days when such things just weren't done. I think TV has just lost one of its true pioneers.

That is sad... but her place in TV history is absolutely secure.

I really hope so. I don't think Doctor Who would have lasted for more than one season without her enthusiasm and grim determination.
