Let Me In! I'm Normal!

I am awake at stupid o' clock in the morning. I promised my college tutor that I would have my UCAS application finished by tomorrow. Why did I do that? Her last words of advice on writing the personal statement for it were: 'Don't come across as weird. Admissions tutors don't like weirdness'. My reactions to this were ( Read more... )

It depends what you're going for. I'm an admissions tutor for creative writing, and weirdness is a positive advantage. But most of us would forgive anything for correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Most of the courses I'm applying for have some kind of creative writing content, so that's reassuring to know.

... If weirdness wasn't allowed, I'd never admit anyone in my courses (with some of 'em, like psychology, I sometimes think it's mandatory)
