Despite an autumn which often felt somber, I find myself in a better mood at the moment than I did when
last year's holiday post went up here...
That span of time between then and now has been an eventful one for me, with a renewed embrace of fandom and a surprising amount of travel--as implied by
my Star Trek tie-in post and stated more explicitly in
my post about attending Worldcon in Chicago. Even
Winnipeg Comic Con managed to step up its game this year, with guests Bruce Campbell and Lea Thompson as personal highlights...which were great for local fandom and terrible for my budget.
I hope that whole positive trajectory continues going forward (and that I don't reach a point of con burnout from attending multiple events in such a short period), but I'm already pleased that yet another fannish and lighthearted offering for the season is available to share this time around:

It's interesting (and vindicating) to keep up this particular posting tradition, with people lamenting the "fall" of LiveJournal as if this site no longer exists even as they complain about other social networks with higher traffic (and their own problematic owners). I often invoke a spirit of nostalgia when I end the year with one of these posts, and I'll admit that I return to options from the past more than others--with many streaming series available to me, after all, I most recently chose to rewatch the Eighties series
Robin of Sherwood instead--but there seem to be more occasions lately when the bygone and niche feel less fraught and uncertain than current alternatives.
Happy Holidays, everyone! Please reconnect with something you once loved and remind yourself what was (and is!) so awesome about it.
