Here's a post that shows you some of the food I ate in Japan. This was spurred on by several people at work (the kind who have probably experienced Japanese cuisine from a "hibachi" chef hurling shrimp towards their open mouth, if even that) asking me "So what do people eat in Japan?" I'd imagine that most of you are a bit more knowledgable, but ( Read more... )

hey - as you probably figured out by now, I'm not going to terrastock - bummer, but I'm just too slammed right now - but hope it's awesome and try to leave some finnish CDs for the rest of us to mailorder! :)

I'm off to work so I have to just do this really, really quickly but...

It is OUR second wedding anniversary today too! Actually, we had no idea. We celebrate our meeting date as our anniversay (the 14th one will be coming up in two months), and we also have a Domestic Partnership date. The marriage thing we did in a really short window of time when it was legal and when I could take a sick day, and of course it has since been nullified. We actually wouldn't have remembered had not fishmael's MOTHER of all people wished him a happy anniversary over the phone on Easter, and another old friend - a very sweet old school hippie in Florida whom I adore - sent us a card congratulating us.

To celebrate, I'm leaving him tonight to spend the next few days with you.

DAMN that food looks great.

well it looks like we're two big heels in that case, leaving oru respective partners with our respective kids to go off on some crazy rock and roll odyssey that requires thousand-mile flights for both of us!

hmm, on your wedding day we had our 2nd anniversary, in boston no less! such strange coincidences...

Happy anniversary to you and S! Has it really been four years? Sorry I accidentally cursed in my apparently Woody Allen-esque toast during your one year later wedding reception, which I guess was three years ago then? Thanks to the wonder of LJ, I can see it was. May you have many more, hopefully my 25th anniversary toast to y'all will be better.

Heh, if I hadn't I'd be standing there in stunned silence since I forgot what I was going to say halfway through. Since people thought I was just choked up, I woulda ended up looking like even more of a pansy!

Happy anniv!

I dunno if I would have the balls to try fugu, but I guess if most people survive it, it can't be that bad (as served).... *_*

believe me, i read up on it before going - having been poisoned overseas before, i get cautious...

as it turns out, there are only single-digit deaths due to fugu these days, and those predominantly occur in rural japan where you might get a chef wanting to experiment - knowing that we were in a pretty prime piece of real estate in the 2nd biggest city of japan made me breathe a bit easier, and it was especially helpful to read the whole thing about chefs commiting harakiri (if that's indeed true) - although when we walked in the restaurant and saw nobody else there, i did get a brief "uh-oh" feeling...
