Aie! three cheers for that :)

(though I can't say the season was injury free for everyone, In our second last game a poor girl on my team got a ball to the temple and had to be stretchered off and go to the hospital (but thankfully was ok).

The league I play in isn't really that professional. Its the league below the top level, which is where all the state players, Olympic hockey players etc play when they are at home. I think my club is just going about it a bit more seriously as they have put a massive amount of effort into the junior teams over the last few years (I think Melville has the most amount of junior teams of any club) and our now starting to see the rewards of all that focus.

Some of the under 13's, 15's and 17's we have are state players in their age group, and there is the potential that they could go on to be professional hockey players, but currently they can't do that with Melville as we don't have a top league team.

In terms of hockey, I'm fairly sure the Perth Hockey Stadium used as the main training base for the Australian teams, so the sport is well supported here.
