Today I am sending off my first cover letter/CV for a medical research position. As much as I absolutely adore tinkering thoughts and sentences to perfection, this-shit-is-stressful-yo. Especially when you have a grand total of no scientific research experience. I have to say, I'm really looking forward to the day when my resume even remotely ( Read more... )

I'm perpetually puzzled by the whole how to get experience without prior experience problem. Sometimes it seems like the only things that people are qualified for are things that they are overqualified for. Then again, maybe I'm hijacking this entry with my own internalizing :P

(...and then again, I know plenty of completely inept people who at some point were wrongly deemed sufficiently qualified for something or other by someone with decision-making authority)

I wanna schedule an appointment for an in-depth discussion of Les Miserables. Are you free this weekend? ;)

Late late late reply, but yes, I don't think there is one single moment where people are just as qualified for the job as they should be. You go from underexperienced to overqualified in 1 day flat, usually. It sucks even more for quick learners like us. Hence the desire to work a craft, as opposed to working a task that's easily mastered.

I'm convinced that our bodies run on perpetual motion. If we actually could stop and analyze every single process running in our little bodies, we'd keel over dead.

Don't stop moving.

Question. If you break the laws of nature... who arrests you?

Hear hear. I'm telling myself to stop moving, but I keep getting these minor cold sweats wondering if by identifying these little molecules working on their little miraculous processes, I'm somehow "waking them up" and they'll stop working.

Don't stop moving is great advice for all sorts of things, too. Unless of course you're in deep meditation or something.
