Ok I really do like Chicago but I have to say the coffee shops SUCK here. I don't have internet yet so I have to coffeeshop it for internet and I have to say that I've found 4 places that are closer to me than the one I'm at now and they all CHARGE FOR WIRELESS. I agree that the recycling and smoking sucks in Chicago.

As a former coffeeshop owner, I can certainly understand not wanting to give away a service which encourages people to occupy tables for endless hours over a $1.80 cup of coffee.

The $20/month option from Face Five isn't bad and it works at both Filter & Atomix.

But yes, as a consumer, I love that free internet wherever I can get it. If you hook up your laptop to Kinko's print station you can get free access. I've never had anyone notice that I wasn't printing anything.

Thanks for the tip on kinko's. I'm just used to having free wireless not only at every coffee shop but also at restaurants and all kinds of different businesses.

i'm from chicago, i just randomly stopped by your journal, from a friend of a friend or something. i don't know where in the city you live, but alliance bakery just got free wireless. they're near division and paulina. they also have great cookies.

the recycling thing does suck, yes.

In the 6 months that I lived in Chicago I only got hit on once, and it was at a Starbucks. I didn't take him up on it though
