maybe it's because i get lost on the way to the bathroom, but i think that driving a cab is an extremely difficult thing to do - ESPECIALLY in NYC. plus, imagine driving a bus downtown there and not hitting any of the 8 million obstacles shooting past you every day?

yeah - and furthermore, those "unskilled" jobs suck. and people should get paid more for doing crappy jobs because a lot of time they're doing a job that is much more physically taxing and mind-numbing. like a garbage man - that job sucks and i don't want it, but if i do have it - i want to be paid more than the person who gets to taste candy for a living.
and also - what david said. "unskilled" jobs usually require some skill in some way.
people get angry when people ask for more because they figure those people get what they deserve - i mean, god, why didn't they just go to college, get an education, and get a good job if they wanted to get paid more? that's the mentality. or people feel like they've worked their asses off but most, in fact probably almost all, of those people haven't ever worked an unskilled job because if they did, they'd be nicer to the transit workers and probably tip more.
