But that's where we have to protect the minority from the majority, see. When the little "walk" light goes on, the big two thousand pounds hunks of vicious and ungiving, bone crushing metal are supposed to let people cross so they don't have to run across the street.
And I don't think it was my own selfishness that caused that truck to just keep going after they hit me, either.
Yes, I'm okay. Physically intact, and my bike didn't suffer at all... to my knowledge... the front tire might be a little wobbly. I was starting to cross at 13th street and 16th ave, and I see that the guy that was also waiting with me stopped, so i stopped and looked, hanging half way into the crosswalk, and this big green truck comes zooming around the corner, slows down a little bit, then speeds up again, not quite clearing me, catching my rubber handle bar grip and front tire on the side of the truck... and I was knocked sideways... Not really a big deal, and partially my fault because I didn't check again to make sure someone wasn't there. I'm really only ticked because the same thing happened a week ago exactly-- I had the walk signal both times and everything. =(
Gainesville's running out of gas! Are you going to start taking the bus to school?
Once I was on 13th street waiting to turn right onto University. There's that GREAT BIG intersection and lots of people were grouped around. People were crossing and not crossing, and there were two girls that kept stepping into the crosswalk and stepping back, but they never went anywhere. Then I got honked at and I went. I don't think I hit them.
They obviously thought that you were going to turn, and they weren't sure. I always find using the little "yeah, go ahead" wave very helpful... It's the only way for a pedestrian and a vehicle to communicate with one another.
I don't hate anybody, I just with people would be more aware.
i am also bothered by cars that stop WAAAAAAY past teh white stop-line on teh ground.
they definately shoudl have seen me comign too.
i had to hit my brakes so hard that i ended up goign up on my front wheel only, did a little teetering-bunny-hop thing for a second, and then somehow landed on my feet as my bicycle crashed to teh ground behidn me.
bastards, i think that is a trick i coudl go withotu repeating this lifetime.

Just think of it this way:
When we're completely out of gas, it'll be us skilled bikers who get to be the asshole road hogs.

I want for cars to not turn when the "walk" symbol is up!
