Think Outside the Box
Before moving into the dorms my freshman year, I was really apprehensive about having a roommate. In such close quarters, especially for an obsessive-compulsive like me, living with someone in a dorm can easily become a torture one might find in the seventh ring of hell. But since the UCLA roommate survey boasted of its high ( Read more... )

somewhere i am sure there is a moral to this story, and that it somehow makes you a better person... my roomie in the dorms was indian guy who had violent dreams and would scream in his native language all through the night as he slept. i feared he would awake and in a groggry rage one night and stab me to death a'la OJ simpson or something... i think there was a moral to that too, i still have not found it, but one day i will :-)

I yell in my native language, too. I just don't know what that is yet.

Chris, I am shocked and apalled at your behavior! How selfish can you be, not to wear a box over your head for this poor, over-worked pseudo-Jew! And to steal his Hebrew National Kosher hot dogs? Well, I'm ashamed... just ashamed! I certainly hope that now that you live on your own, you will have more respect for the people around you, and do little things for them, such as covering yourself with corrogated cardboard. :o)

They totally were Hebrew National hot dogs. That made me chuckle.

Fortunately I have my own room now, so no boxes necessary.

This is the exact reason I've required my own apartment every year while in college. Flatmates are easier than roommates, because I can lock my door and so can they. Sometimes I don't even see the people I live with for an entire week, and that, to me, is glorious.

I plan one day to live alone. But, I may have a cat. That is all the companionship I need.

I'll still lock my bedroom door though.

Gah! My cat, who recently jumped out of the second story living room window, used to jump (noticing a trend?) up and try to twist the door knob to open the door. I figure if he would have stuck around another couple of weeks, he would have gotten the hang of it. Poor little guy.

That is so sad! I thought cats always landed on their feet.
