I have to admit that sounds exciting. Remember, worst case scenerio, we can always send stuff to you. :) (like peanutbutter cups. There are no peanutbutter cups in Europe. Lord help you if you need a recesses fix)

Fortunately, the embassy has an APO address, which means I can have stuff sent to me for the cost of shipping in the U.S. I believe that Netflix will become a very good friend of mine. =)

That sounds so cool. When are you leaving?

Being a language person, I have to admit that I almost envy you. Too bad I couldn't talk doomsey into traipsing around the world with me like that. He's graduating this year and wants to get started on his career, and I completely understand that. Hopefully, after two or three years, we'll get our chance to live in Japan for a year or two, though. I never did do a study abroad program when I was in college, and looking back on it now, I really should have. I sincerely believe that living in another country and experiencing another culture is a great opportunity to leearn more about the world we live in...

A few years ago, my fiance declined to join me in traipsing around the world because he wanted to pursue his career stateside. So I picked him over this job, and looked into other employment. When we broke off the engagement a few months later, I had to wait another year for this job to open up again. I am hearing stories of a number of "trailing husbands" who are uncomfortable with their status; it is so unheard of in our society for a man to follow a woman's job opportunities.

Study abroad is the best thing since sliced bread! I spent a semester in Russia during undergrad, and a semester in Dublin as well as a summer in London during law school. Although working for the embassy is going to be a bit different from traveling as a student. Better accommodations, for one. =)

You're going to need the netflix it's cold as hell there, I know they say the summers aren't so bad but still, lots of cold. I like the idea of sending you random junk, it'll be like a surprise every month, "ooh what did I get this time a piece of wrapping paper and a rubber chicken, that'll be useful" (grins and luaghs maniacally.) Anyway best of luck, have fun and write as often as possible.

I will totally email you my APO address, and look out for strange and interesting packages! =) I'll even return the favor, if you send me your address, too.

In all fairness, you should have opened your own account. It was just one more thing that I was going to let lapse. The phone is the other. 04/04 is the magic date on that one. I will be changing providers so it won't be an issue anymore.

Dude, I was standing at the cashier's with $300 worth of stuff when he told me that I had to renew the membership. Even if I had remembered that it wasn't in my name, that was not the time to indulge in some paperwork. I hated to do it, though, knowing that I'm leaving for years in just a few weeks...

Same goes for the phone; it won't work in Finland, and I'm not gonna pay money to hold the number. I wasn't aware that you considered it "an issue", but you may rest assured that I will be giving it up before the end of March.
