julia, i am loving this new motto. making new friends is a very enjoyable thing to do, i find. i just befriended 2 freshman guys today and I must say it felt damn good to be outgoing and broaden my horizons. <3madeline
I really think that's very admirable. I do. I'm trying to be a little bit less exclusive and bitchy this year and make friends with all different sorts of people... I don't want to pigeonhole myself. I feel like it'll be awesome if I can go to lunch with different people every day, and not have anybody resent me or hate me or think I'm two-faced.
It's a complicated thing, this school stuff. On one hand, it's a tedious, bureaucratic intellectual sweatshop working under the guise of education. On the other hand, there's always good gossip, the people are fashionable, it keeps you from getting addicted to soap operas 'cause you're out all day, and every once-in-awhile you stumble upon a teacher who actually challenges you. So I guess it could be worse.
High school is high school. I would prefer to spend all day reading at the library or working on my poetry anthology in a quiet corner of Starbucks, but there are much worse things than having to sit for a few hours a day in class playing MASH with the football player next to you...
High school isn't as bad as people think. You get as much back as you put in so it's only someone's fault if they complain or whine like I used to. Once I got involved it was tons more funner and gooder. But yeah, you know what will be way better than high school? College! WOO HOO! NON STOP PARTYING AND BOOZING! YEAH! 24/7!!!
P.S. I hear if you pay the nerds enough money they do your homework for you! That leaves more time for partying. I think I'll try it out...
In case you think I'm a stranger...I'm Kristin. From Much Ado. But I digress. I totally know what you mean as per liking everybody. I can't think of a single person off of the top of my head that I truly dislike on a regular basis. That certainly wasn't true at this time last year.
I like high school too, most of the time. Some classes are painful, but there're so many good things like choirs, friends, some good teachers, etc. I always tell myself that this is like the last chance to be a kid, because after I graduate it's like growing up, and you can't blame your age for your mistakes anymore. Then life will suck. It's good that you like high school, because you can't get out of it anyway. I know some people who like to bitch about how school sucks, but that's because they look too much at what's wrong with it, instead of what's right!
IB people, if school is so miserable, quit the IB, and you might be surprised by how much fun you can actually get.
