[Hmmm, this is faintly reminiscent of home. The only difference is this suitcase likely belongs to someone, instead of laying around abandoned in a creepy tower.

So instead of opening it, Minato opts to pick up the suitcase. Yes, he's going to try to find the mysterious suitcase's owner.]

[Who would seriously leave a suitcase out here like that, think about it... :|;;

But suitcases don't speak so unfortunately it'll just have to get carried off by protag-kun!

And then suddenly he'd feel a "thump" from inside the suitcase. Not enough to make him drop it or anything, but a static object shouldn't be able to... give a reaction of its own.

Keep walking, or stop to investigate?]

[Obviously, it was left behind by someone in a hurry to work. :|a He'd feel bad ignoring it, especially if it's full of important papers, or money, or mystery secret items...

...Which go "bump" when picked up? Huh. How weird. What is inside here? Now he's curious.

...

1. Open it.
>2. Keep calm and carry on.

Whatever it is, it can wait until he finds the owner. Maybe start with the house it's in front of?]

[Ah...

No need. He'll get called by a voice from somewhere behind just as he's making his way to the front porch of 1765. Turning around, he'll see a redheaded woman wearing glasses and donning a ponytail in an orange coat, looking at him with surprise.]

...Huh. Hey there, do you need something? [She does give the suitcase a quick glance, but doesn't seem to really take it in account. He's headed towards her house after all, asking about that would be more fitting.]

[He's walking back toward his house when he bumps his foot into the suitcase accidentally. He wasn't watching the sidewalk, on account of being too busy coughing into a tissue, and looks around tiredly to see if there is an owner around.

...Hm, the house the suitcase is closest to is Touko's. Is this her's?

His eyes dart around before he bends down to pick the suitcase up. May as well deliver-- it's heavy. Heavier than he expected. What does she have in this thing? He frowns and tries to lift it again. He gets it off the ground, but his weakened state means that it isn't stay off the ground for long. It falls out of his grasp and the impact causes the clasps to loosen and the suitcase begins to open.

This can't be good, can it?]

["Not good" was definitely charted among the possibilities, yes, but as for the particular outcome that his accident has just triggered, well...

A distortion itself seems to jump out of the box. Once it hits the ground and stops moving, now laying empty and wide open by the sidewalk, Scratch will have a black but not wholly corporeal cat with piercing golden eyes staring back at him. Its tail is swishing back and forth as it simply sits there and observes him, not showing any signs of hostility or displeasure.

This is obviously not an ordinary cat. Its whiskers twitch a little. What do, Doc?]

[Scratch steps back as the distortion jumps out, ready to aim a fiery death on whatever may come out of it. Those plans naturally stop though when he realizes that a cat has been released. He does not let his guard down immediately, because even a magical cat can be a threat, but soon lowers his right hand down and looks carefully at the creature. Scratch does not have much of his omniscience back and he doesn't need it to know that this cat isn't ordinary. No way that heavy suitcase could carry around such a creature.

He slowly bends down into a squatting position (because no way he is getting his knees dirty on the pavement) and reaches a gloved hand out to the cat to touch it.]

[It'll keep staring at him, curiously almost though it'd be hard to tell, before willingly leaning forward with his nose to sniff his hand.

Physical contact isn't made, the cat'll draw itself back before that, but it seems to have picked up something. Whatever it was, it'll stand up from where it sat and come up next to Scratch, also circling him once. It doesn't meow, but the swishing of its tail now does seem to indicate a certain level of contentment.]

[ He's just walking through the streets - it's rather weird, everything that's going on, not to mention the drones acting so.. strangely (seriously, his drone kid passed out in a bowl of cereal this morning), but then there's a suitcase.

... What is this sudden feeling of dread and maybe some vague familiarity too.. but then again, he was passed out with a concussion for half of knk 5 and it's been a while either way so there's no moment of instant recognition.

He's not even sure if he wants to approach by now, tbh, although if it's garbage to be taken out maybe he should at least be nice enough to put it somewhere with the rest of the garbage, right? Someone might trip over it!!

... brb, having a staredown with the suitcase. ]

and then if you opened the suitcase you would have found money. it'd be a mikiya-exclusive option... puppeteerings December 21 2011, 01:21:16 UTC
[Yeah good choice.

It'll stare back down at you, Mikiya. IT'S BOSS LADY'S SUITCASE SHE ASKED YOU TO GET WHEN SERIOUS SHIT WAS GOING DOWN, when she told you to wait and she'll bring back Shiki, remember?

What's the wisest course of action here, really... -3-]

[ HE NEVER KNOWS WITH MAYFIELD SHIT OKAY he'll probably remember in a bit when he remembers why he has such a bad feeling about it (like anything involving something belonging to Touko, like his paycheck)..

Staring at it some more.. okay no he'll take a step closer he means like this he could still walk around it in the end if he wanted to!! ]

[She could have... been swallowed by some eldritch monstrosity...

But THANK GOODNESS THAT'S NOT THE CASE! If she's keeping her eye on the suitcase, opening it she'll see a swirl of intangible black accompanied by a sudden knife-sharp feeling of foreboding. It was borderline hostility, but it vanishes as quickly as it appears. In less than an eyeblink, the swirl seems to jump towards her face--

--before taking a turn and landing on the sidewalk. The entire thing took an instant, so it's also possible that all she saw was something black, before a "black cat" with golden eyes is now sitting next to the open suitcase, staring back at her neutrally. "Black cat", because anyone can see that there's something... not right about the animal. The blackness isn't its fur, for one; it seems to be made out of something translucent and otherworldly.

It doesn't meow either, just swishing its tail back and forth as it keeps staring back at her. ...It's not so bad, right... It could definitely have been worse (??)!]

[He only stops to look at it because he nearly crashed into it. Something like that is pretty dangerous to leave on the sidewalk when people are riding bikes on it.

Holland is going to try and pick it up to move it.]

[You can take that up to the owner! Provided you'll manage to find him/her, this is to be continued.

He'll be able to lift it no problem, although it feels a bit heavy, definitely not empty. Where to now?]

[It drops harmlessly onto the front lawn of someone's house, and it's mostly out of his way now, leaving the sidewalk unobstructed to pass by.

Still looking very ordinary, yep... Investigate further, or let sleeping dogs lie?]
