I was visiting my parents. They moved to China a couple of years ago, so now I try to go there whenever I get a break from studying. Plus, Chengdu = ALL the pandas :)

That's interesting. I studied Chinese literature and language as a grad student. I'd love to get over to the mainland sometime; I lived in Taiwan for a while, but that's so different. Is your family Chinese, or just adventurous? :) (And if you don't feel like answering my admittedly nosy questions, just say so!)

No, I don't mind at all. I'm going to move to Beijing in a couple of months to do an internship and I'm still really struggling with Chinese. I'm usually good with languages, but Chinese and I just don't click.

Taiwan sounds awesome. My mom went there the other month.And no, they're not Chinese. I'd say it's a mix of being adventurous and my dad being super dedicated to his career.
