Not that I really know anything about this to make an accurate decision, but the second one sounds so much cooler. Dealing with staining cells and brain slices would be pretty cool... and I don't think I could deal with the whole "smashing rats on the head thing." Haha.
Judging from your descriptions, I'd suggest the second one. It seems like it has a little bit of everything, and the way you put it makes it sound like neither has any one outstanding advantage in terms of specificity.
First of all, I expect you to have written this in poetic form, otherwise it has no business on LJ.
...NOT. Um, I like the second one, mostly because you'll be getting to see it from the beginning, which is pretty awesome. + isn't pharmaceuticals what you're interested in?
