MY DOG IS A HERO.

That's right.  ARCHIE did something WONDERFUL last night.  I realize that this will be very difficult to believe for anyone who's ever had the pleasure of meeting him.  Archie, generally, is the nicest dog in the world, but to put it lightly, a bit high-strung and not especially well-endowed as far as intellect is concerned.

Pepsi used to do that all the time. Whenever the cat would get in a fight at night she would spring out of bed, usually dragging all of the covers with her, and therefore getting us up whether we wanted to or not, and we'd hear the howling from outside and go downstairs and let Biscuit in. The other cats were usually already scared away by her barking, though. After she inspected him and found him to be okay, everyone would return to bed, including the now safe at home cat, Biscuit. She wasn't much of a good dog in any other regard, but she always took very good care of her cat, and for that we adored her.

...we didn't know it was going on until he barked, which is why he's a hero??
