wow, thanks so much for the info. i was wondering about it the other day but was too lazy to look into it. so basically most of the music they are leaving out are the dialoguey-music bits like in the beginning and such. its just going to be so weird to hear it as dialogue and NOT sung, ya know?
but wow oh wow is adam pascal CUUUUUUTE. and i want anthony rapp to tour little shop to TPAC...but when i'm in the country of course. ;-)
the guy for angel looks amazing as a woman. and rosario dawson with long hair looks unexpectedly good for the role. lets just hope she can sing.
i expect you to gather a HUGE group of people to go see the movie. i just hope, reallllly hope, it gets released in france - but with subtitles. i dont really want to sit through rent in another language. :-/ *Cross fingers*
well the anthony rapp stuff is off the top of his head and from back in october... so i'm sure it's still possible that christmas bells will be in it, as some form or another. the thing that kind of gets me is the san francisco stuff... but melissa explained to me that they are just shooting in san fran and that it is still SET in NY. which i truly hope is the case, because otherwise the story loses a LOT. as far as cast stuff, they all look great, but to be honest, as good as adam pascal looks, i dont think he looks young enough. i think the others pull age off much better than he does... and it kind of bums me out.
overall im pleased and looking forward to it... and i fully expect to be disappointed in certain areas, but think that for the most part, it should be fun/good. :-)
yeah i think he and anthony rapp are too old, but think about people on stage in musicals - we have people younger playing older people and older playing younger people all the damn time. granted in movies they usually try to cast around the appropriate age, and dont forget makeup can do A LOT. make up and final editing. remember john travolta did NOT look 18 years old in grease! ha. and with musicals there is always that suspension of belief because helloooo people are SINGING for NO REASON! :) i think it should be ok.....as far as adaptation probs, i guess we just have to look at it this way: they are bringing the story of rent - a very influential musical - the big screen so that people like dora and bryan and all your friends can see it for $5.50 when they may never make it to new york to see it on stage. it wont be perfect but it should be pretty damn good.
i found it posted on a rent LJ group. i've seen posts by him before on compulsivebowlers i believe, but that one i didn't take from the original source. sorry. if you happen to stumble upon more information from him, let me know. :-)
