Long overdue
It's been a while since I updated here - too many things going on. In short, #4 broke his arm & is out of commission for a while, we are now involved in an ongoing investigation that will hopefully lead to prosecution, #2 is headed for college, and #3 is now playing the upright bass in addition to the electric. It was a nice day for golf, but not because it was sunny and warm. It was not quite cool - my sweater was enough to keep me warm even though we got drizzed and lightly rained on. I did an interesting bit of math with golf scores, using the rating & slope along with my best score on the courses in question to figure out what the "equivalent" score would be on the others ( Read more... ) -

I let my stepdaughter's boyfriend (the one with the golf passion) talk me into going out to Sharon Woods again today. It was cold! The first five holes I thought I was going to freeze my butt off, but after that I got warmed up by the exercise and it turned into a really pleasant round. I got out yesterday with my stepsons, and quite crazily let one of them talk me into a much longer and harder course than I have ever played before. We only played nine before the storms rolled in, and I still walked away with a 68. It felt much worse than it was - the slope was a good 23 higher than the course I usually play, and after correcting ( Read more... ) -

Score today:55, 8 better than the 63 from during the week. Not as much better as it sounds; 4 lost balls for 8 strokes last time, all playable today on a more open course. All the lost balls last time would have been findable on this course, but this one is rated 1 stroke harder rating, 5 higher slope. So I'd guss about 2 strokes better overall ( Read more... ) -

Updates
The yard is much improved - the seed has grown some and the earlier grass is greener. Unfortunately, some of the really bad spots are still really bad b/c the seed didn't germinate ( Read more... ) -
