The adventures of a semi lurker a.k.a. the rewatch 3.01 - 3.13

Apr 09, 2009 16:00

We are getting promos and press releases so it is getting more exciting but there is also confusion about the schedule again. *facepalms* The double episode is apparently not 4.17 and 4.18 but it seems to be 4.16 and 4.17 and they will end the season (15/5) with 4.21 and 4.22 together but still no definite news on the last two extra ones. I love Michael and McGrady too. It's a shame that they couldn't drag him into the next season but they didn't need to because he got to go home. Did we ever find out what he was in there for? I can't remember but he was about 13.

Finally, Mo. You have made such a big difference to my LJ and fandom experience and I think we are all terribly lucky to have you. You always have an interesting, kind, insightful or hilarious word to say and it's honest, to the point, sometimes Dutch and always appreciated.
I love your thoughts and yay, we have a whole other season of them to go! *beams*

S3 was such a downer for so many reasons, and the show and the fandom has suffered because of it. As soon as 3x04 aired I checked online first thing and I was so, so angry. And Dom's "make believe" comment didn't help. I set up camp in denial-land and suffered through the rest of the season. I was probably too sad to notice any good in S3 but Wentworth and WF were easily the best thing about it. Great performances from both. I hope I'm not being totally delusional here but I think you could tell Wentworth wasn't happy with the whole situation, particularly in the Kristin interview and in this French interview:

Sara Tancredi has tragically disappeared: will Michael find a new love?

I hope not. It would be disrespectful to both characters. For me, the best love stories on screen are star-crossed ones. Give Michael enough time for bereavement ! Sara’s death sent him to the dark side of the force and it also had a negative influence on his relationship with Lincoln ( ... )

Thank you. I was like a dog with a bone over there LOL but dammit, I was not going to let her fade away like other characters do. She meant too much to so many people for that to happen and the fact that TPTB thought it was a good idea to kill her off...I still can't understand it to this day. If it is true that Wentworth didn't want to do publicity then I'm glad he stood up to such a ridiculous and pointless move.

Oh Mo, this is wonderful. (Says Stalker #3.)

I wondered how you were going to tackle the S3 re-write, and the result is something that is really uplifting while still holding the season accountable, if that makes sense. It was a rough time, and I don't even read half the negative stuff you do. It did bring so many of us together though.

I loved the little freak out from Went when he didn't know how to get the phone and all I care about is this (clutching Sara's pic)

That's one of my favorite scenes of all S3. I love how he unravels. It's so telling.

Thank you for these reviews, Mo. They have been so celebratory and fun and insightful, all at once.

I am glad about that because that is exactly how I felt and feel about that season. It was rough but it resulted in a very tight and loyal group on LJ and that was one of the great things about S3.

Now leave me alone you stalker.

I was the same. I stopped reading fanfic and I became addicted to RPF and I couldn't watch clips or pics of the two of them.

We lurkers all crawled out, tired of shouting at the computer because no RL sane person would understand us. LOL I agree that it was not just HITB but so many wrong decisions that were made and made S3 what it was; a missed opportunity. That is not so bad because every show has an off season but IMO because Sara(h) not being there was so devastating fans left in great numbers and that had consequences for this season unfortunately.

The only things I liked in S3 were: Wentworth, because let's face it, he was really REALLY gorgeous in that season

*high fives your shallow self*

I loved the end as well but at the same time I was so sad so this time around it was much better to watch.
