When I was 13 I went to a camp for gifted kids in Ireland.  Three weeks of a writing course, with mostly Irish kids.  I've done similar programs here in the states, but it was mindblowing at that age to spend so much time in another country, actually seeing everyday life instead of the touristy things.  That year the Oasis album (What's the Story) ( Read more... )

When my friends Dave and Jessie got married back in 2006, my friends and I ended up in a circle on the dance floor, arms around each other's shoulders, dancing and "singing" (read: shouting offkey).  So I can't hear Bon Jovi's "Livin on a Prayer" without thinking of them.

Hmm, define sad.  There are many songs that make me overly emotional, like REM's Nightswimming or Jimmy Eat World's Big Casino.  But there are also songs that I have a hard time listening to because they remind me of stuff that I'd rather never happened.  Pretty much all Bob Marley is rough, because my friend Robert loved Marley.  He died suddenly ( Read more... )

I've been meaning to make a fat-positive post for a while, but why make you wade through blogs when you can just watch this.  And I won't hurt you if you call me fat in a positive way (that means you Matt!).  Yes, I need to exercise more, but realize that fat is not the end of the world.
