Wow! Short but visceral! I like it! The ending was surprising and wonderfully delivered! I really enjoyed this piece.

Now that does lead into some interesting thoughts. What is Estelle that her legs can just become detached like that? If it's that easy, can she put them back on? Or is this a reference to some fairy tale that I'm unaware of? Well done, it's a good story.

Thank you so much for your comment! And your thoughts! :) Estelle is actually just a normal person, but this references a TERRIFYING wives' tale my grandmother used to tell me while I was growing up. My hope is that no one else had to suffer this, but she used to say, "Don't play with your belly button, or you'll untie it and your legs will fall off!"
